Overview

Hemostasis support encompasses interventions aimed at promoting or restoring the normal process of hemostasis, which is the physiological mechanism by which bleeding is stopped after vascular injury[2][4][1]. Hemostasis involves several tightly regulated steps: vasoconstriction, platelet plug formation (primary hemostasis), activation of the coagulation cascade and formation of a fibrin mesh (secondary hemostasis), and ultimately clot stabilization and dissolution (tertiary hemostasis/fibrinolysis)[1][4][3]. Agents and treatments labeled as "hemostasis support" can act on any component of this complex network—including platelets, coagulation factors, or fibrinolytic pathways—rather than acting at a single defined molecular target. In summary, "Hemostasis support" does not refer to a canonical druggable target and cannot be mapped to a specific molecule, gene, or protein. It describes a supportive goal or therapeutic approach comprising multiple molecular and cellular processes[1][2][4].
