Target intelligence / Profile preview
Heparan sulfate (HS) is a linear, highly acidic polysaccharide glycosaminoglycan found in all animal tissues, primarily as part of heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs). It regulates numerous biological processes including developmental signaling, angiogenesis, blood coagulation, cell adhesion/migration, tumor metastasis, and immune cell recruitment/activation/inflammation modulation. It also acts as an attachment receptor for several viruses including respiratory syncytial virus and SARS-CoV‑2.
