Target intelligence / Profile preview
Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) are a family of glycoproteins characterized by the presence of one or more covalently attached heparan sulfate (HS) chains. These molecules are found ubiquitously at the cell surface and within the extracellular matrix. HSPGs play critical roles as receptors and coreceptors, influencing growth factor action, cell adhesion, tissue architecture, and cellular signaling. They are involved in various pathophysiological roles, including viral infections and tumor metastasis.
Modulation of growth factor signaling; alteration of cell adhesion and migration; inhibition of viral entry.
