Overview

Hepatalin is a hormone produced by the liver that plays a central role in regulating nutrient energy partitioning after meals. It stimulates glucose uptake and storage as glycogen primarily in skeletal muscle, heart, and kidneys. Reduced hepatalin action is linked to postprandial hyperglycemia, prediabetes, obesity, and type 2 diabetes.
