Overview
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) antigens are viral proteins that play key roles in the structure, infectivity, and immune recognition of HBV. The main HBV antigens include Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), Hepatitis B core antigen (HBcAg), and Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg). Each has distinct structural and functional properties relevant to the virus lifecycle and host immune response. Detection of these antigens is central for diagnosis and staging of HBV infection. Recombinant forms of HBsAg are used in vaccines.
