The hepatitis B virus (HBV) peptide-HLA complex refers to the molecular assembly formed when a peptide derived from HBV antigens binds to a human leukocyte antigen (HLA) molecule, typically of class I. This complex is presented on the surface of infected cells and is recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), initiating an adaptive immune response against HBV-infected cells. Effective presentation depends on both viral sequence variability and host genetic diversity in HLAs impacting vaccine/therapeutic design. It is a target of immunotherapies, including bispecific antibodies and engineered T-cell receptors (TCR-T), to selectively target infected cells.
