Overview

The Hepatitis B Virus preS2 antigen is an immunogenic domain located within the envelope proteins (M and L) of HBV. It contains important T and B-cell epitopes and plays a role in viral infectivity. Mutations or deletions in the preS2 region are associated with immune evasion and increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma.
