The Hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication machinery refers to the collection of viral and host components responsible for the replication of HBV within infected hepatocytes. This machinery is central to the HBV life cycle, enabling the production of new viral genomes and particles. Key components include the HBV polymerase, pregenomic RNA (pgRNA), core protein, and cccDNA. It enables persistent infection, high-level virion production, and genetic diversity.
