Hepatitis B virus (HBV) RNA transcripts are essential intermediates in the HBV life cycle, serving both as templates for protein synthesis and as precursors for viral genome replication. Key transcripts include the pregenomic RNA (pgRNA) which is crucial for both protein production and reverse transcription, as well as subgenomic RNAs encoding surface antigens and the X protein.
