Target intelligence / Profile preview
The Hepatitis B virus S open reading frame (HBV S ORF) encodes the surface antigens of the hepatitis B virus (HBV), which are critical for viral infectivity, immune recognition, and serve as key diagnostic and vaccine targets. It encodes three related envelope proteins: Large (L), Middle (M), and Small (S) also known as hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg).
The Hepatitis B vaccine elicits an antibody response to HBsAg, providing protection against HBV infection.
