Overview
The hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA-directed RNA polymerase, also known as NS5B, is a virally encoded enzyme essential for the replication of the HCV genome. It catalyzes the synthesis of new viral RNA strands using an existing viral RNA template, a process fundamental to the life cycle of HCV. It is a major target for antiviral drugs.
