Overview

Hepatocyte cell adhesion molecule 2 (HEPACAM2) is a transmembrane glycoprotein associated with the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is required during prometaphase for centrosome maturation, and its knockdown in cells results in prometaphase arrest, abnormal nuclear morphology, and apoptosis[1][2][5][7]. Poly(ADP-ribosylation) promotes its translocation to centrosomes, enhancing maturation and robust chromosome movement during mitosis[5][7]. HEPACAM2 mediates cell–cell and cell–matrix adhesion, contributing to tissue integrity and regulation of cell proliferation. Altered expression patterns are observed in multiple cancers and may act as biomarkers for disease progression or patient selection. Chromosomal deletions encompassing HEPACAM2 are implicated in hematological malignancies and neurodevelopmental syndromes[1][2][5][6].
