HERC2 pseudogene 8 (HERC2P8) is a processed non-functional copy of the HERC2 gene, classified as a pseudogene. Unlike the functional HERC2 gene, which encodes a large E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in DNA repair, pigmentation, and neurological disorders[1][3][4], HERC2P8 does not code for a protein and has no known biological activity, physiological function, or clinical relevance. Pseudogenes like HERC2P8 are common in the human genome and typically result from duplication or retrotransposition events but do not produce functional products. There is currently no evidence to support its use or relevance as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug-interacting site in medicine or research applications[5].
