Overview

Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily Member 14 (TNFRSF14/HVEM/CD270) is a type I transmembrane protein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. It plays a crucial role in immune regulation by modulating both stimulatory and inhibitory immune responses. It acts as a co-stimulatory molecule for T cell activation via interaction with LIGHT; and can also inhibit immune responses through interactions with BTLA or CD160. HVEM is also involved in mucosal immunity and serves as an entry mediator for herpes simplex virus. Mutations or dysregulation are associated with lymphomas and autoimmune diseases.
