Overview

HHLA2 is a member of the B7 family of immune checkpoint molecules that regulates cell-mediated immunity. It inhibits T cell proliferation and cytokine production by binding to an unidentified receptor on T cells and antigen-presenting cells. HHLA2 is overexpressed in various cancers, promoting tumor growth and metastasis, and is associated with worse prognosis. It represents a promising target for cancer immunotherapy. It is expressed only in humans.
