Target intelligence / Profile preview
Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 18 (HNRNPA1P18) is classified as a human processed pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional genomic DNA sequence similar to the functional HNRNPA1 gene but typically does not encode a functional protein due to accumulated mutations or lack of regulatory elements[1][7][11]. Unlike the functional HNRNPA1 gene, which codes for an RNA-binding protein involved in RNA splicing, transport, and regulation, the pseudogene HNRNPA1P18 is not known to perform any biological function and is not regarded as a drug target, biomarker, or disease-relevant gene[1][7][11]. There is no evidence of this pseudogene being directly involved in cellular pathways, biological functions, or disease roles, nor are there drugs or therapeutic agents known to interact with it. It exists mainly as a genomic relic of gene duplication or retrotransposition events within the human genome.
