Overview

Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 22 (HNRNPA1P22) is a non-protein-coding genomic sequence annotated as a pseudogene, related to the gene encoding hnRNP A1. Pseudogenes are genomically similar to protein-coding genes but generally do not produce functional proteins due to sequence changes. While some pseudogenes play regulatory roles in gene expression (e.g., acting as competitive endogenous RNAs), there is no reported evidence that HNRNPA1P22 is functionally active or targets any drugs. Its nomenclature should not be confused with the protein-coding hnRNP A1 gene, which is a well-established regulator of RNA metabolism and a therapeutic target in disease biology[1][7]. Key clarification: Despite similarity to HNRNPA1, HNRNPA1P22 is a pseudogene and not a classical therapeutic target; information regarding drugs, mechanism, biomarkers, or clinical application refers to the functional parent gene/protein, not the pseudogene.
