Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 3 (HNRNPA1P3)

Target
HNRNPA1P3
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Related to RNA-binding proteins (as a non-functional homolog of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins)
01

Overview

Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 3 (HNRNPA1P3) is a human processed pseudogene located in the genome that shares sequence homology with the functional heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 gene but does not produce an active protein. Pseudogenes such as HNRNPA1P3 are typically the result of gene duplication or retrotransposition events that have rendered the gene nonfunctional through accumulating frameshifts or premature stop codons. HNRNPA1P3 is not known to have any protein-coding capacity, regulatory RNA function, or disease association, and its scientific and clinical relevance is primarily limited to its identity as a genetic relic rather than as a molecular target

Mechanism of action

None. No mechanism of action for drugs, as this gene is not a targetable protein

03

Biological functions

Generally none (non-protein-coding). As a pseudogene, HNRNPA1P3 does not encode a protein and is not known to have regulatory RNA function or involvement in cellular pathwaysPseudogenes may in rare cases act as competing endogenous RNAs or influence gene expression, but no evidence exists for HNRNPA1P3 having such a function
04

Disease associations

None established. Pseudogenes occasionally play roles in cancer and other diseases by affecting gene regulation, but no literature supports a disease role for HNRNPA1P3 specifically
05

Safety considerations

None. As a nonfunctional pseudogene without a known biological function or disease role, HNRNPA1P3 poses no documented safety or therapeutic challenges
