Target intelligence / Profile preview
Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 31 (HNRNPA1P31) is a noncoding human pseudogene that shares sequence homology with the functional HNRNPA1 gene, which encodes a highly abundant RNA-binding protein involved in RNA metabolism, splicing, and numerous cellular processes. Unlike HNRNPA1, HNRNPA1P31 does not encode a functional protein and is not recognized as a druggable or canonical therapeutic target. Pseudogenes such as HNRNPA1P31 may play regulatory roles by functioning as non-coding RNAs in gene expression networks, but no specific molecular or disease function has been assigned to this pseudogene. Functional *HNRNPA1* (not the pseudogene) is central to RNA processing and has roles in splicing and mRNA metabolism, and has been linked to cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and viral responses. However, HNRNPA1P31 does not share these properties as it is noncoding and not a protein. Pseudogenes have evolving importance in gene regulation and cancer biology, sometimes acting as competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) or regulatory elements, but HNRNPA1P31 does not have an established role. If you require information on the functional protein (hnRNP A1) instead of this pseudogene, please clarify your query.
