Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 5 (HNRNPA1P5) is a pseudogene of the HNRNPA1 gene in humans[5][1]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are typically nonfunctional; they generally do not encode functional proteins. While the parent gene HNRNPA1 encodes a well-characterized RNA-binding protein involved in RNA processing, splicing, and gene regulation[6][2][4], HNRNPA1P5 itself has no reported protein product or biological activity, nor is there evidence supporting its use as a therapeutic or diagnostic target. There are currently no known biological functions, disease associations, or drug interactions for HNRNPA1P5[1][5][7]. Its main relevance comes from bioinformatic or evolutionary studies rather than translational medicine or therapy development. Notes: - There is evidence for other HNRNPA1 pseudogenes (such as HNRNPA1P75), and pseudogenes in this family are commonly catalogued[1][7]. However, pseudogenes like HNRNPA1P5 are not considered drug targets or therapeutic receptors. - If your intended target was the parent functional gene, use "Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 (HNRNPA1)," which does have significant roles in cancer, neurodegeneration, and RNA biology[2][4][6]. Thus, HNRNPA1P5 is not considered a therapeutic target, nor does it encode a functional molecule; there is no evidence supporting a biological, clinical, or pharmacological role for this pseudogene.
