Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 53 (HNRNPA1P53) is a processed pseudogene located on chromosome 11 (according to Ensembl: 11:5,571,247-5,572,192, reverse strand). It does not encode a functional protein product. Pseudogenes are generally defective copies of protein-coding genes that have lost their protein-coding capacity through mutation or truncation and are usually transcriptionally silent. While some pseudogenes participate in regulatory networks or produce RNA that acts in gene regulation (e.g., as ceRNAs), there is no current evidence qualifying HNRNPA1P53 as having a defined biological function or clinical significance in human disease. Thus, it is classified as a nonfunctional (or as-yet uncharacterized functional) genomic element. Summary: HNRNPA1P53 is a non-coding human pseudogene derived from the HNRNPA1 family gene.
