Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 6 (HNRNPA1P6) is a human processed pseudogene, related by sequence to the protein-coding gene HNRNPA1, which encodes a key RNA-binding protein involved in pre-mRNA processing, alternative splicing, mRNA transport, and responses to cellular stress. However, as a pseudogene, HNRNPA1P6 does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes like HNRNPA1P6 may be transcribed and can sometimes influence molecular pathways—in particular, acting via non-coding RNA mechanisms to regulate gene expression—although there is no documented evidence for such biological activity in HNRNPA1P6 specifically. HNRNPA1P6 is not a therapeutic target, nor is it associated with approved drugs, mechanisms of drug action, biomarkers, or known safety concerns. Its biological significance, like many pseudogenes, remains poorly characterized, though growing evidence suggests that some pseudogenes can be biologically active in cancer and other diseases as regulators of gene expression.
