Overview

Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 60 (HNRNPA1P60) is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome[1][7]. Unlike functional protein-coding genes, pseudogenes like HNRNPA1P60 do not encode active proteins and are not associated with direct biological roles, disease causation, or therapeutic targeting. The parent gene, HNRNPA1, encodes a member of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) family, which are RNA-binding proteins involved in mRNA metabolism, particularly mRNA splicing and transport, and have documented relevance in neurodegenerative disease and cancers[2][4][5]. However, those functions do not extend to the pseudogene variant HNRNPA1P60, for which no specific biological function, disease involvement, or therapeutic significance has been reported[1][7].
