Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 pseudogene 70 (HNRNPA1P70) is classified as a processed pseudogene in the human genome[3][5][1][11]. Pseudogenes are stretches of DNA similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional due to accumulated mutations that prevent their expression as functional proteins[9][12]. HNRNPA1P70 does not produce any protein product and, therefore, is not considered a protein target for drug discovery or therapeutic intervention. While pseudogenes can sometimes have regulatory roles at the RNA level, there is currently no evidence supporting a functional or pathological role for HNRNPA1P70 itself. The parental gene, HNRNPA1, is an RNA-binding protein involved in RNA metabolism, alternative splicing, and is implicated in neurodegenerative disease and cancer; these functions do *not* extend to the HNRNPA1P70 pseudogene[2][4][6][9].
