Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A3 pseudogene 4 (HNRNPA3P4) is a non-coding pseudogene variant related to the gene encoding heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A3 (HNRNPA3). Pseudogenes result from gene duplication or retrotransposition and generally do not encode functional proteins. HNRNPA3P4 shares sequence similarity with HNRNPA3 but does not produce a known, functional RNA-binding protein and has no established function or disease association[1][7]. In contrast, the protein HNRNPA3, which belongs to the hnRNPA/B family, regulates mRNA processing, transport and stability and is implicated in cancer biology and cell differentiation; however, these features do not apply to the pseudogene HNRNPA3P4[5][10][2][8].
