Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A3 pseudogene 5 (HNRNPA3P5) is classified as a pseudogene, specifically a non-coding homolog of the protein-coding HNRNPA3 gene[3][5]. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes are generally not translated into functional proteins, although some may produce RNA transcripts that can exert regulatory effects on cellular processes, particularly in the context of cancer. HNRNPA3P5 has been identified through genomic and transcriptomic analysis as a pseudogene of clinical interest in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), where its high expression is associated with poor prognosis[5]. There is no evidence that HNRNPA3P5 encodes a druggable protein or serves as a direct therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar actionable molecule. However, pseudogenes such as HNRNPA3P5 may participate in the regulation of oncogenic pathways and immune cell infiltration by acting as competitive endogenous RNAs or interacting with regulatory microRNAs[5]. Research on HNRNPA3P5 remains limited, and its primary use is currently as a prognostic biomarker in hepatocellular carcinoma rather than as a target for pharmacological intervention. HNRNPA3P5 is a pseudogene, not a functional protein or classical therapeutic target. Its main biological/clinical significance lies in prognosis for certain cancers, notably HCC[5]. There are protein-coding heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (e.g., HNRNPA3) that have documented functions and potential druggability, but HNRNPA3P5 does not encode such a protein[6]. "is_incorrect" is set to true because HNRNPA3P5 is not a canonical drug target, but is often confused with its protein-coding counterpart HNRNPA3.
