Overview

Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein C pseudogene 3 (HNRNPCP3) is a pseudogene related to the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein C (C1/C2) gene family[1]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but generally nonfunctional as they typically contain mutations preventing their protein-coding potential or regulatory activity[3]. HNRNPCP3 is not believed to code for a functional protein and is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter. While some pseudogenes can play roles in gene regulation—such as acting as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), sources of regulatory RNAs, or through sequence-based effects on genome biology—there is no published evidence that HNRNPCP3 plays a functional or disease-related role[1][3]. There are thus no known drugs interacting with it, and it is neither a biomarker nor a therapeutic target. Care should be taken not to confuse HNRNPCP3 (a pseudogene) with the functional parent gene HNRNPC or other heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) family members, which do have known biological and clinical relevance[4]. Key points explaining why "is_target" is false and "is_incorrect" is true: - HNRNPCP3 is a pseudogene, not a functional protein or well-established RNA product[1][3]. - There are no known small-molecule, biologic, or clinical interventions targeting it[1]. - It is not considered a bona fide molecular target for drug development or therapeutic intervention. - Mistaking HNRNPCP3 for HNRNPC (the functional gene/protein) would be a major error, as the latter is a true hnRNP with known molecular and disease roles, while HNRNPCP3 is not[4][1].
