Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein C pseudogene 4 (HNRNPCP4) is a pseudogene derived from the HNRNPC gene, which encodes heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins C1/C2, a major class of nuclear proteins involved in RNA binding, pre-mRNA processing, and splicing[1][2]. Unlike the protein-coding parent gene HNRNPC, pseudogenes such as HNRNPCP4 are generally non-functional and do not produce proteins. Pseudogenes may arise from gene duplication, retrotransposition, or DNA sequence mutation, and typically do not contribute to therapeutic, biomarker, or disease pathways[1]. HNRNPCP4 should not be considered a molecular or therapeutic target.
