Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein H3 is a nuclear RNA-binding protein encoded by the *HNRNPH3* gene, and is part of the hnRNP H protein family that also includes hnRNP H, hnRNP H2, and hnRNP F. It is localized to nuclear bodies within the cell nucleus and binds pre-mRNAs, influencing their processing and splicing. HNRNPH3 has two quasi-RRM domains for RNA binding and can participate in early heat shock-induced splicing arrest by transiently exiting hnRNP complexes. Alternative splicing of the HNRNPH3 transcript results in isoforms with potentially distinct functions. It has been associated with some neurological and infectious diseases but is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target.
