Overview

Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L pseudogene 1 (HNRNPLP1) is a genomic pseudogene with sequence similarity to the functional heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L (HNRNPL), a well-characterized RNA-binding protein involved in pre-mRNA processing, splicing, and nucleocytoplasmic transport[5]. HNRNPLP1 does not produce an active protein and is not known to participate in any canonical biological functions, pathological processes, or drug interactions. Unlike HNRNPL and other hnRNP proteins, which have major roles in gene regulation and have been associated with neurodegenerative disorders and cancer[1][5], HNRNPLP1 lacks evidence for protein coding or functional participation in any cellular processes. Note: If information was sought on the protein heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L or its gene, HNRNPL, extensive details exist regarding its molecular biology, disease roles, and drug relevancy. "HNRNPLP1" designates a nonfunctional pseudogene, and so is not considered a valid therapeutic target nor does it have known clinical or research utility.
