Overview

HHATL antisense RNA 1 (HHATL-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA produced from the HHATL gene locus, likely functioning via complementary base pair interaction with the HHATL mRNA. As with other antisense long non-coding RNAs, it may regulate the expression of its sense transcript (HHATL) through mechanisms that include transcriptional interference, modulation of chromatin marks, or alteration of mRNA stability[1][2][5]. These types of non-coding RNA transcripts are increasingly recognized for their roles in fine-tuning gene expression, chromatin organization, and epigenetic regulation, primarily acting locally (cis) at their site of synthesis[1]. There is currently no published evidence that HHATL-AS1 plays a disease-related role, interacts with drugs, or serves as a recognized clinical biomarker, and it is not considered a canonical therapeutic target.
