HHIP-like protein 2 (abbreviated as HHIPL2) is a human protein encoded by the HHIPL2 gene, located on chromosome 1. It is structurally related to the hedgehog-interacting protein (HHIP), but its explicit molecular function remains incompletely characterized. Available functional annotations suggest roles in quinone binding and oxidoreductase activity, indicating potential involvement in redox biology. There is evidence from gene associations that it may be involved in iron metabolism and osteoblast marker modulation. Expression data indicate it is a secreted/extracellular protein. Disease-association studies have linked mutations or dysregulation of HHIPL2 with lung acinar adenocarcinoma, but no known drugs, mechanisms of action, specific biomarkers, or notable safety concerns have been reported in the literature as of now. If more granular molecular function, clinical targeting status, or additional disease roles are required, further research or functional studies would be needed, as current evidence is sparse and does not support its classification as a primary therapeutic target.
