Overview

HID1 antisense RNA 1 (HID1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the DNA strand opposite to the HID1 gene. While the specific function of HID1-AS1 has not been well characterized in the literature, antisense lncRNAs are generally known to regulate the expression of their corresponding sense genes via interaction at the transcriptional or posttranscriptional level. Antisense lncRNAs play roles in recruiting chromatin-modifying enzymes to specific gene loci, forming RNA duplexes with their sense mRNAs to regulate stability, and acting in both oncogenic and tumor-suppressor capacities depending on cellular context.
