High mobility group box 3 pseudogene 13 (HMGB3P13) is a segment of DNA that resembles the functional high mobility group box 3 (HMGB3) gene but is nonfunctional, presumed to have lost its protein-coding ability due to accumulated mutations. Pseudogenes like HMGB3P13 are typically regarded as genomic fossils and do not produce functional proteins. Most pseudogenes, including HMGB3P13, are not considered therapeutic targets, enzymes, receptors, or otherwise "druggable" molecules. While some pseudogenes in general can regulate gene expression through RNA-mediated mechanisms or serve as disease biomarkers, there is currently no specific evidence supporting any such function for HMGB3P13. It is not referenced as a therapeutic target in scientific or medical literature.
