High mobility group box 3 pseudogene 15 (HMGB3P15) is a pseudogene in the human genome[1]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to functional genes but contain mutations or arrangements that prevent them from encoding a functional protein[3]. While some pseudogenes are transcribed into noncoding RNAs capable of influencing the regulation of their parental gene or other cellular processes, most—including HMGB3P15—have not been shown to have a specific biological function or role as a drug target[1][3]. Pseudogenes in general may act as microRNA decoys or participate in noncoding RNA networks, occasionally being implicated in the regulation of diseases such as cancer[2][3], but there is no direct evidence of such a role for HMGB3P15.
