High mobility group box 3 pseudogene 21 (HMGB3P21) is a human pseudogene derived from the high mobility group box 3 (HMGB3) gene family[1][3]. Pseudogenes are gene sequences that resemble known protein-coding genes but have lost the ability to code for proteins due to accumulated mutations or deletions[6]. Although some pseudogenes can generate regulatory RNAs or affect the expression of homologous genes, there is no current evidence that HMGB3P21 encodes a functional protein, produces regulatory RNAs, or is involved in any known biological or disease process[1][3][6].
