High mobility group box 3 pseudogene 31 (HMGB3P31)

Target
HMGB3P31
Molecular classification
Other (specifically: pseudogene), Homology: high mobility group box protein superfamily (by sequence only, not by function)
01

Overview

High mobility group box 3 pseudogene 31 (HMGB3P31) is a genomic DNA sequence related to the high mobility group box 3 (HMGB3) gene family but contains disabling mutations that render it non-functional. Like other pseudogenes, it does not produce a functional protein product and is not a drug target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter[2]. Its sequence may be homologous to HMGB3, which is part of the high mobility group protein family involved in chromatin architecture and gene regulation, but HMGB3P31 itself does not participate in cellular functions. There is no evidence of therapeutic, diagnostic, or biomarker use of HMGB3P31.
