Overview

High mobility group box 3 pseudogene 9 (HMGB3P9) is a processed pseudogene (also called a retrogene) of the parental gene HMGB3 (high mobility group box 3)[1][3][5]. It is found in the human genome as a nonfunctional, intronless copy derived by retrotransposition[5][7][10]. Unlike protein-coding HMGB genes, this pseudogene is not known to produce a functional RNA or protein and does not have an established role as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or in human disease[3][1][5]. There is no evidence that HMGB3P9 is transcribed or otherwise functional, and it is not considered a druggable target or pathologically relevant locus in the current biomedical literature[3][1][4][5][10].
