01

Overview

High mobility group nucleosomal binding domain 2 pseudogene 13 (HMGN2P13) is a human pseudogene related to the high mobility group nucleosomal binding domain protein family. Pseudogenes are non-functional genomic elements with high sequence homology to functional genes but lack protein-coding capacity[4]. While some pseudogenes influence the expression of their parental genes via RNA-mediated mechanisms, there are no data suggesting that HMGN2P13 has a functional impact on cellular processes, disease, or therapy. It is not considered a therapeutic target or a biomarker. Its biological and clinical significance, if any, remains to be determined.

02

Mechanism of action

None. As a noncoding pseudogene, it lacks a protein product to which drugs can bind, and no drugs are known to interact with this pseudogene.

03

Biological functions

None directly known for HMGN2P13. In general, some pseudogenes have been shown to regulate their parental genes by acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA sponges, but this has not been established for HMGN2P13 specifically.
04

Disease associations

None reported for HMGN2P13. In general, some pseudogenes affect cancer, metabolic disease, or other contexts by regulation of parental genes, but HMGN2P13-specific roles have not been described in the literature.
05

Safety considerations

None known or relevant for pseudogenes in general, and no data for HMGN2P13 specifically.
06

Biomarkers

None specific. Some pseudogenes are used as expression biomarkers in research, but there is no information supporting such a role for HMGN2P13.
