High mobility group nucleosomal binding domain 2 pseudogene 24 (HMGN2P24) is a nonfunctional DNA element in the human genome. It shows strong sequence homology to the protein-coding gene HMGN2, which encodes a chromatin-binding protein involved in chromatin structure and gene regulation, but HMGN2P24 itself cannot produce a protein. As a pseudogene, it may participate in genetic regulation at the RNA level, potentially serving as a competitor or decoy for regulatory molecules (such as microRNAs) or affecting the stability of related messenger RNAs, but no direct biological function or therapeutic relevance has been attributed to HMGN2P24 itself. It is not recognized as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or biomarker for disease or patient selection.
