Molecular classification

01

Overview

High mobility group nucleosomal binding domain 2 pseudogene 4 (HMGN2P4) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, related by sequence homology to the genuine gene HMGN2, which encodes a chromatin-associated protein involved in nucleosome binding and transcriptional regulation. Like other pseudogenes, HMGN2P4 does not encode a functional protein, and its biological roles—if any—remain largely uncharacterized. Although some pseudogenes modulate expression of their parent genes by acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), miRNA decoys, or regulators of mRNA stability, there are currently no specific publications documenting functional or pathological implications of HMGN2P4. It is not considered a druggable or therapeutic target.

02

Biological functions

Potential regulation of parent gene expression through transcript competition, siRNA generation, or miRNA sponging (general mechanisms described for pseudogenes, not specifically for HMGN2P4)Other
03

Disease associations

Other (no documented disease associations specific to HMGN2P4; some pseudogenes are involved in gene regulation related to cancer, diabetes, etc., but no data for this pseudogene)
