High mobility group nucleosomal binding domain 2 pseudogene 5 (HMGN2P5) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, related to the high mobility group nucleosomal binding domain 2 (HMGN2) gene family[3][4]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements and do not encode functional protein products[4][7]. While some pseudogenes can be transcribed and may have regulatory effects (for example, acting as competing endogenous RNAs or miRNA decoys), there is no evidence that HMGN2P5 plays such a role[1][2]. HMGN2P5 currently has no demonstrated biological function, disease linkage, or relevance as a drug target[3][4][7].
