High mobility group nucleosome binding domain 1 pseudogene 19 (HMGN1P19) is a processed pseudogene located on human chromosome 7p12.3[4]. It is designated a pseudogene because it lacks known protein-coding function and is annotated as non-coding RNA[2]. No direct biological role has been characterized for HMGN1P19. By analogy to related high mobility group pseudogenes (such as HMGA1P6 and HMGA1P7), which can regulate expression of their parent genes and other cancer-associated genes via microRNA (miRNA) decoy activity, HMGN1P19 may have similar potential for gene regulation[1][3]. However, there is currently no evidence directly linking HMGN1P19 to biological pathways, diseases, pharmacology, or drug targeting. As such, HMGN1P19 is not recognized as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or conventional therapeutic target. Its annotation as a pseudogene implies that structurally it shares sequence homology with the parent HMGN1 gene, but with key mutations that prevent translation into functional protein[2][4].
