High mobility group nucleosome binding domain 1 pseudogene 28 (HMGN1P28)

Overview

High mobility group nucleosome binding domain 1 pseudogene 28 (HMGN1P28) is a human processed pseudogene related to the high mobility group nucleosome binding domain 1 (HMGN1) gene[3]. Pseudogenes such as HMGN1P28 typically arise by duplication or retrotransposition events and lack the ability to encode a functional protein. Some pseudogenes in related families have been shown to play regulatory roles in cell biology, such as acting as decoys for microRNAs or generating regulatory non-coding RNAs[4][5]; however, for HMGN1P28 specifically, no biological function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance has been reported to date. There are no known drugs, biomarkers, or therapeutic mechanisms associated with HMGN1P28.

Biological functions

UnknownOther (since direct roles for HMGN1P28 are unreported; some HMGA/HMGN pseudogenes can act as non-coding RNAs with regulatory, decoy, or ceRNA activity[4][5], but this has *not* been reported for HMGN1P28 specifically)
03

Disease associations

Other (no direct evidence links HMGN1P28 to diseases; other HMGA/HMGN pseudogenes show roles in cancer, but assignment to HMGN1P28 would be speculative[5])
