High mobility group nucleosome binding domain 1 pseudogene 33 (HMGN1P33) is a human pseudogene, meaning it is a DNA sequence similar to a functional gene (HMGN1) but generally considered non-functional due to disabling mutations that prevent it from encoding a full-length, functional protein. Like other pseudogenes, HMGN1P33 may be transcribed into RNA, but there is currently no experimental evidence that it produces a protein or has a direct biological function. Some pseudogenes are known to have regulatory functions at the RNA level, such as acting as microRNA sponges or generating small interfering RNAs, but there is no data supporting such roles for HMGN1P33 specifically. It is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or classic drug target, nor is it linked to specific biomarkers, mechanisms of action, or safety concerns in therapeutics.
