Histamine release from basophils is a critical event in the immune response, particularly in allergic and inflammatory processes. Basophils, when triggered by stimuli such as allergen-bound IgE cross-linking their surface FcεRI receptors, rapidly degranulate and secrete histamine and other mediators.
