Target intelligence / Profile preview
Histone deacetylase 1 pseudogene (ENSG00000256674, also known as LOC100132172) is a pseudogene related to the canonical histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) gene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to known genes but are nonfunctional due to mutations or absence of regulatory elements required for expression. Unlike the functional HDAC1, which plays crucial roles in gene expression, cell cycle regulation, and chromatin remodeling[1][3][4][5][7], the HDAC1 pseudogene does not encode a functional enzyme and does not contribute to histone modification or cellular processes. It is catalogued in the human genome for annotation purposes but is not a target of therapeutic or biomarker relevance.
