HDAC1P2 (Histone deacetylase 1 pseudogene 2) is a human pseudogene related to the functional histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) gene[1]. Unlike HDAC1, HDAC1P2 does not produce a functional enzyme and lacks known molecular or biological activity. It is classified as a pseudogene on genomic databases. In scientific and pharmaceutical contexts, HDAC1P2 itself is not considered a therapeutic target, nor does it play a documented role in disease or drug interaction. Misidentification can occur because of similarity in nomenclature to HDAC1, a key enzyme involved in chromatin remodeling and gene repression, which is an actual target for epigenetic therapeutics in oncology and other disease areas[1][7].
