Histone deacetylase Hos2 (None)

Target
None
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Histone modification, Class I HDAC
01

Overview

Histone deacetylase Hos2 is a Class I histone deacetylase (HDAC) found in yeast and other fungi. It is responsible for the removal of acetyl groups from lysine residues on the N-terminal tails of core histones, including H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. This activity plays a crucial role in chromatin remodeling and gene expression regulation. It acts both as a repressor and activator of transcription. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Hos2 negatively regulates protein expression noise by modulating the translation machinery.
