Overview

H3 histone pseudogene 15 (H3P15), also named histone cluster 3 H3 pseudogene, is classified as a pseudogene of the histone H3 family in humans. Unlike functional histone H3 genes, which encode core histone proteins critical for nucleosome structure and epigenetic regulation, H3P15 lacks evidence of encoding a functional protein product and is annotated as a non-functional genomic element. Pseudogenes such as H3P15 may arise from duplication or retrotransposition events but do not contribute to core histone pools involved in chromatin architecture, cell cycle regulation, or disease processes[1][3][5]. Current evidence does not support a role for H3P15 as a protein-coding gene, biomarker, or therapeutic target.
